US Economy Generates Over 1 Million New Jobs

Wednesday, March 4th, 2015

Washington (AFP) – US companies kept their doors wide open for brand new hires limiting a three-month surge that found a stunning one million jobs created throughout the united states.  A better-than-anticipated January total of 257,000 new jobs that were generated via the internet made for the greatest hiring with a comprehensive variety of businesses enlarging payrolls despite the midwinter economic slow down, since 1997.

Together with the market indicating the 11th straight month of 200,000-plus occupations included, “This was another very powerful employment report for the US,” said Harm Bandholz of UniCredit. Most economists said the new data showed actual signals of the market increasing grip following a bumpy 2014 during which it grew a small 2.4 percent.

There were weaknesses in the amounts Most of the recent occupations were low-wage positions as well as how many long term jobless increased.  Meanwhile a rise a data point saw as an important indication of labor market tightening — was just marginally over the inflation tendency. After dropping in December, hourly wages increased 12 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $24.75.

While the rise was supporting, economists said the wage movements in the last year were not too consistent to declare that American workers’ pay checks are securely rising.

“The labor market isn’t yet tight enough to create significant wage increase, meaning future consumption increase is likely to be restricted,” said Dean Baker of the Center for Economic and Policy Research.

However, said Chris Williamson the Labor Department report was largely great news.

“The US labor market showed no signs of cooling in the beginning of the year, despite recent evidence to indicate the economy moved down an equipment throughout winter,” he said in a client note.

“Wage increase remains a significant disappointment but is at least showing signals of picking up.”

The upsurge in job development in the previous year has dramatically cut against the US unemployment rate. The 5.7 percent speed at the conclusion of January compared with 6.6 percent a year past, and 8.0 percent at the start of 2013.  Analysts consider it is going to drop close to 5.0 percent by the end of this year, eventually placing the deep damage of the 2008-2009 Great Downturn behind.

The January occupations marketplace report was seen as powerful enough to support the march of the Federal Reserve toward increasing its near-zero interest rates at the center of the year.  Fed policy makers happen to be keeping their eyes on employment increases and particularly wages to determine whether the market is growing strongly enough to weather a tightening of monetary policy, with inflation tame.

“With three-month average job increase of 336,000, the Fed may begin thinking about liftoff before June,” said Chris Low of FTN Financial.

Some Backup Options for Data Storage

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

Computer novices, or those who are challenged, need not feel intimidated with data backup software and applications. It’s important that you keep your computer data protect. There is a backup application that can protect your date whether your computer is a Mac or PC.

Even if you just get something on the lower end, it’s still better than having no protection. Check out the following 3 backup solutions that are available.

If you are looking for a backup solution that is very modern and unique, NTI Backup Now might be right for you.

A fantastic backup tool, NTI Corporation really went out of their way to create something unique. It works very simply, allowing you to choose whatever files you need to protect, and then set up a schedule for saving this information in a specific location. The user interface is almost drop-dead simple to use and almost any person can get through it. Most people will choose the automatic backup system, but you can also manually do this as well. People that like to use remote desktop connections will be disappointed since this cannot be done. One of the peculiar negatives about NTI Backup Now is it won’t work with the remote desktop in use.

The Cloud could of course change all this, but there’s some real challenges and decisions regarding location of the backup servers.  If privacy is an issue. it’s an important factor with many countries have very little legislation to protect you – normally the European countries are safest and of course the USA, you can use a site like this – http://iplayerusa.org/ to make that connection if there are restrictions on location.

A simple and straightforward software is PowerBackup which could be great for less experienced users. The entire backup process is done in three steps, and at the end you get a summary record outlining what you’ve just performed. One shortcoming of PowerBackup is its inability to create backups and save on removable storage media. Moreover, PowerBackup lacks the ability to perform complete hard drive backups.

Also, you can backup your data online using any one of the many online backup services out there. A popular service is AVG LiveKive and the service costs $79 for an annual subscription. The service offers up to 500GB of data storage per user. But be careful because this is like cell phone minutes, and they will bill you for anything over 500 gigs of use. AVG LiveKive is friendly and supports both Macs and PC computers. They do offer smaller packages if 500 GB is way more than you need. The 25BG and 50GB services plans costs around $50 annually. There are many online backup services today so it’s a good idea to comparison shop to find the best deal for you.

You’ll need to decide if you want a backup solution that you install on your computer or that lets you create backups online. Each of them has advantages so you’ll need to weigh them against each other. You may think that you’ll save a lot of money by going with a low cost online backup service but you’ll need to figure in your long-term costs; those small monthly fees will add up to a lot after a year or a couple of years.

Business Writing – Here’s How to Make Yours a Success

Tuesday, December 16th, 2014

The world of business requires you, if you seek success, to learn a few things. It is very common to find a great shortage of people that are actually competent with proficient business writing skills. It is obvious that, people do not like to write things in general. It is something people do not like to do. So if you’re trying to move higher up in your company, it is necessary that you write more competently than ever before. The other part of that is if you are the business owner and you have no employees.

New business will not come your way if your skills at writing are lacking. You can outsource your writing, or improve your writing skills to make a huge difference.  The effects can be quickly beneficial, especially if you update your site and blog regularly.  Also on social media, where writing skills are even more beneficial – perfect for promoting any sort of business or service.  Check out some of the useful guidelines you’ll find on advertising on the online TV channels – try this UK ITV link for an example.

The first thing you want to look at, in regard to improving your business writing, is to do more proofreading and editing. It is so important to proofread every e-mail, even if you don’t think they are important look at again.

Always use as much time as possible when it comes to proofreading longer communications that you are interacting with. The writing should be powerful and well written. It is also okay to find mistakes, but that’s really not the point. As long as you look it over a few days later, you will notice mistakes that you otherwise would not have. It will be so easy to tighten up what you’re writing, and you will wish that you had done this sooner.

Here is one of the most influential tactics you could incorporate into your writing; as simple as it is.

The trick is to keep your subject as lucid and clear to understand as possible. The quality of clarity is critical from emails all the way to business presentations which are based on business writing to some degree. This can be important to all concepts of your business; together with your verbal talents. When you strive to be very clear, you will tend to be concise as well. When you keep your writing short and to the point, folks will view you as a seasoned business person.

No matter what the medium or purpose of your writing, always remember the following fundamental concern of your readers. People are usually egocentric and just want to know how something can benefit them. This belief is real for marketers, advertisers and across the whole board. You need to grasp the notion that people won’t interrupt what they are doing in order to read something if they don’t think it will be advantageous for them. There can be exceptions, for instance reading casually about appealing topics, of course even what they read then should be pleasing and relaxing. Be sure to always let your readers know what they will discover in your writing and that it will enhance their lives. You can move your business writing to intense levels and there is nothing bad about that. By executing this, you will just be paying yourself mightily with time and a boost in knowledge. For starters, you should direct your attention toward the areas that require immediate improvement. After that, pick those topics that are most relevant to your situation and hone your skills. In the end, you’ll be capable of developing pieces of writing that gets the attention of all the right people.

Social Sites Deliver the News

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

It comes as no surprise that many Americans are now getting their new from the web, or more specifically from social networking sites. But the scale of the exodus from traditional media seems to be increasing. According to a report by the Pew Research Center, now more than 3 in 10 US adults get their news from Facebook.

The majority claim that although it’s not the main reason that they log in to the social networking site, they do read the news stories when logged on. Perhaps the more worrying statistic is that only a third of users on the site, get their news from an organisation or journalists news feed. This suggests that they’re getting their current affairs and news directly from friends.

There are other sites which people are turning too, including YouTube, Twitter and Google Plus. Although in many places and establishments many sites like this including Facebook are blocked (workarounds are common though).

There is no doubt that social media sites like Facebook are going to be a major sources of news for many users in the years ahead. It is hoped that traditional news media with qualified and respected journalists are still represented well on here. The problem is that these sites are largely responsible for controlling what we see and have access to primarily through their algorithms.

The control doesn’t stop there though either, especially if you consider the practice of geotargeting. Websites also control who is able to access their site depending on location. So for instance a site like Pandora or Hulu, blocks anyone who tries to access from outside the USA. The BBC won’t allow anyone to use the wonderful Iplayer application if they are based outside the UK. In fact you can’t watch any of the UK TV stations online if you’re outside the country – unless you use a technique from this video.

Assessing Server Loads for Proxy Servers

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

Of course one of the most important aspects of running a proxy server is speed. However you’re never going to know if your server will be fast enough unless you do some basic load estimating beforehand. No one will want to use your super secure proxy if it runs like a three legged donkey.

So how do you estimate the expected load on your server? Well there are several questions you need to ask yourself of which the most important is simply – how many users?

The important concept here as regarding speed is how many concurrent users. That is how many users will be connected at any one time, this has by far the biggest impact on performance.

binary-proxy

Other load impact will be what type of use, what type of content will be downloaded and how many accesses per second, hour or day will be involved. Imagine the impact on a server of a few hundred users browsing text based resources and downloading the odd graphic file. Then contrast this with the same few hundred users streaming or downloading HD quality videos and films. The difference will be phenomenal, the reality is that your users are much likely to be in the second category. People use secure proxies not only for keeping themself safe online but also to bypass geotargeting blocks to watch things like the BBC and US TV channels from other countries. There is an example of such high security services which run against a network of international proxies. This software acts as a front end – for switching between proxies automatically – this video.

Only by asking yourself these sort of questions can you hope to estimate the total load on your proxy and the hardware required to cope with it. The server administrators which rely on simple statistics like the number of users will definitely underestimate the resources required and will end up with a slow and unusable server.

China Tightens Internet Controls

Sunday, December 30th, 2012

There were some that hoped that the new leadership of China would have a more relaxed attitude to the internet and online discourse, however this is looking increasingly unlikely.  Instead of relaxing the rules new legislation is being introduced that will tighten control by the government even further than before.

At the moment China has the most stringent and advanced filtering system on the planet. The Great Firewall if China is justly infamous for it’s extensive restrictions on what you can access online from within China.  Foreign websites like YouTube and Facebook are often blocked completely whilst even internet searches for sensitive words and phrases are censored too.  The Chinese authorities even have an army of paid bloggers who comment and divert conversations away from politicallly sensitive subjects!

The Chinese are hence avid users of a variety of VPN and proxy services designed to allow them access to different sites.  Using methods like these they use them for a variety of reasons simply to be able to get access to these blocked social networking sites.  Many others have specific needs and you’ll often see Chinese websurfers asking – how do I get a UK IP Address for example.  The answer is here and the reason –  so they can watch a less biased news service of world events through the BBC Iplayer!  For news and information closer to home, many Chinese will look to Hong Kong or pay out for Australian proxies which have more localised news on ABC iView.

Of course, the new laws and regulations are not being sold as tightening these already strict controls.  The official like is to enable the authorities to ’safeguard national security and social public interests’.  One of the most important new laws is that all web users must regitser their real names with the Internet service providers.  Strict penalties will be applied to ISPs who do not conform and enforce this new requirement.
